Seven Associates Join Lathrop GPM

(November 10, 2021) – Lathrop GPM is pleased to announce the hiring of seven associate attorneys. Located in the firm’s Kansas City, Minneapolis, and St. Cloud offices, they are as follows.

Dara Alvarado is a 2021 graduate from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law. She joins the Business Transactions group in Kansas City. Prior to joining the firm, Alvarado worked as a legal intern at a business transactions law firm, she served as an intern for the Honorable Stephen R. Bough in the United States District Court for the Western District of Missouri and a judicial intern for the Honorable Judge Newton in the Missouri Court of Appeals in the Western District.

Alexandra Carthew is a 2020 graduate from the University of North Dakota Law School, summa cum laude. She joins the Financial Services group in Minneapolis. Carthew has worked on matters involving contract disputes, jurisdictional issues, restorative justice, employment law, fair housing, petitions for post-conviction relief, and trusts and estates. Prior to joining the firm, Carthew served as the Editor in Chief of the North Dakota Law Review, 2019-2020, and worked as a judicial law clerk for the North Dakota Supreme Court during the 2020-2021 term.

Lizzi Janssen is a 2021 graduate from Mitchell Hamline School of Law, magna cum laude. She joins the Heath & Nonprofit Organizations group in Minneapolis. While completing her law degree, Janssen worked as a Technical Writer for the firm, where she managed legal research assignments and wrote memoranda on emerging legal issues. Prior to law school Janssen worked as a Clinical Social Worker, providing individual therapy, psychiatric evaluation, and managing a mental health program.

Michaela Liesenberg is a 2021 graduate from University of Minnesota Law School, cum laude. She joins the Real Estate & Tax Credit group in Minneapolis. Liesenberg has experience leading case strategy for Chapter 7 bankruptcy clients as a student attorney for the University of Minnesota Law School Bankruptcy Clinic.

Daniel Remington is a 2021 graduate from University of Minnesota Law School, cum laude. He joins the Financial Services group in Minneapolis. Remington works with debtors, financial institutions, corporate creditors, receivers and trustees and creditor’s committees. Prior to joining the firm, he worked for the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency as a legal extern and as a volunteer law intern at the United States Attorney's Office.

Brittany Riehm is a 2020 graduate from the University of St. Thomas School of Law, cum laude. She joins the Business Transactions group in St. Cloud, Minnesota. Prior to joining the firm, Riehm worked as a law clerk to Judge Jennifer L. Frisch in the Minnesota Court of Appeals, legal intern for Violence Free Minnesota, student attorney with the Community Justice Project Clinic, graduate research assistant to Professor Gregory Sisk, judicial extern for the Honorable Susan Segal in the Minnesota Court of Appeals, and law clerk at Rinke Noonan (a mid-sized firm based in St. Cloud). Riehm also authored the article “The Scammer and the Charlatan: Regulating Health Fraudsters in the Time of COVID-19,” published by the University of St. Thomas Law Journal in April 2021.

Sarah Stevens is a 2021 graduate from University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law, cum laude. She joins the Labor, Employment & Higher Education group in Kansas City. Stevens is also an investigator with trainED, focusing on sexual misconduct, sexual harassment, gender-related violence, and protected class discrimination and harassment cases on behalf of higher education institutions. Prior to joining the firm, she served as an intern for the Honorable Stephen R. Bough in the United States District Court for the Western District of Missouri and a judicial intern for the Honorable Cynthia L. Martin in the Missouri Court of Appeals in the Western District.
