Lathrop Gage Announces 2018 Executive Committee Members

Kansas City, Mo. (July 1, 2018) – Lathrop Gage announced today the nine members of its 2018 Executive Committee. Five Partners have been elected to the firm’s Executive Committee to serve two-year terms. Scott Malin (Wealth Strategies -St. Louis, Mo.) and Rosalee McNamara (Labor & Employment – Kansas City, Mo.) will continue their service on the committee while Mara Cohara (Environmental Law, Product Liability, Toxic and Mass Tort - Kansas City, Mo.), Curtis Tideman (Business Litigation – Overland Park, Kan.) and Brian Trinque (Intellectual Property - Boston) are serving for the first time. Malin and McNamara also serve as the firm’s Deputy Managing Partners.

Members of the Lathrop Gage Executive Committee continuing their terms in 2018 include: Managing Partner Cameron Garrison, Michael Abrams (Business Litigation - Kansas City, Mo.), J.A. “Jay” Felton (Environmental LawProduct Liability, Toxic and Mass Tort – Kansas City, Mo.) and Patrick McRorie (Energy – Denver).

The firm’s nine-member Executive Committee develops the firm’s business strategy, oversees the firm’s financial and operating objectives, and serves as a liaison to the firm’s offices and operating committees.

About the new Executive Committee members:

Mara Cohara is the Leader of the Environmental and Tort Practice group. She focuses her practice on litigation matters involving toxic tort, nuisance, product liability, premises liability, breach of warranty and the defense of companies in a wide variety of industries including manufacturing, agribusiness and hospitality as well as religious institutions. She has significant experience coordinating large-scale "bet the company" matters and defending high-profile lawsuits that involve media and community attention. Additionally, Cohara serves as Co-Chair of the firm’s Women's Initiative Network and is active in many civic and legal organizations, serving as a board member with groups including National Camp Fire, Greater Missouri Leadership Challenge Foundation, Lawyers Encouraging Academic Performance and the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Foundation. Among her honors, Cohara has been selected to Missouri & Kansas Super Lawyers in the area of Class Action & Mass Torts annually since 2013, and Ingram’s Magazine selected her to its 2015 “40 Under Forty” list.

Curtis Tideman has more than 25 years of litigation experience involving complex commercial contracts, labor and employment matters, trade secrets and covenants not to compete, banking litigation matters including debtor/creditor rights, healthcare business disputes, insurance defense and coverage issues, personal injury cases and trust and estate litigation. He is also a frequent speaker and writer on issues of litigation, employment and education law. Tideman’s leadership beyond the Executive Committee includes serving as the Partner in Charge of the firm’s Overland Park, Kan., office and as Leader of the firm’s Education law group. In addition, Tideman has been recognized by The Best Lawyers in America® and Missouri & Kansas Super Lawyers since 2010, and Best Lawyers named him a 2014 and 2016 Lawyer of the Year in Education Law,

Brian Trinque has a Ph.D. in organic chemistry and focuses his practice on patent law in the pharmaceutical and chemical arts. He has worked with many clients on developing and managing patent portfolios focusing on all aspects of pharmaceutical development, and he also has experience with technologies outside of the pharmaceutical arts, including process chemistry, polymer and material chemistry, electronic displays, fuel cell technology, biofuels, nutraceuticals and food products. His clients range from Fortune 500 companies to start-ups and universities, and he has built several patent portfolios for start-up companies that were acquired by larger pharmaceutical companies. Trinque also serves as Partner In Charge of the firm’s Boston office, and has been named a 2011, 2012, 2016, 2017 and 2018 Rising Star among New England Super Lawyers.
