Lathrop GPM Partner Emily Cantwell Named Among Best Attorneys in St. Louis

Aug. 3, 2020 – St. Louis Small Business Monthly named Lathrop GPM Partner Emily Cantwell one of the best attorneys in the St. Louis region. Chosen by the magazine’s readers — business owners, partners, CEOs and top executives — throughout the St. Louis region, Cantwell appears in SBM’s “The Best Attorneys in St. Louis” list, published in the magazine’s August 2020 issue.

A Litigation and Dispute Resolution attorney, Cantwell focuses her practice in the areas of commercial, banking and real estate litigation, loan enforcement, employment, title disputes and mechanic’s liens. In her representation of businesses, Cantwell handles all aspects of civil, commercial and real estate litigation matters. On behalf of financial institutions, she protects and enforces clients’ rights through litigation of breach of contract actions, asset protection and other matters involving real estate and loan collateral.

Advising on labor and employment matters, Cantwell also assists entities in navigating the employment law process, from the administrative level up to and including litigation. She serves as counsel in the defense of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage and hour and other employment lawsuits, mediations and arbitrations, and advises employers on daily human resource matters, including labor relations, non-compete issues and helps conduct investigations of employee complaints.

Holding leadership positions at Lathrop GPM and in the St. Louis community, Cantwell co-chairs the firm’s Women’s Initiative Network, and serves on the Board of Directors for the Women’s Foundation of Greater St. Louis and on the organization’s Women in the Workplace Employment Scorecard Initiative Committee. She also serves on the Board of Directors for the Greater Missouri Leadership Challenge. In 2019 she was named a Most Influential Businesswoman by the St. Louis Business Journal. She also previously served on Lathrop GPM’s Culture, Diversity & Inclusion Committee and as President of the Clayton Chamber of Commerce’s Board of Directors.
