Mark “Sox” Levison Elected to Missouri Bar Board of Governors

8/17/2010

Lathrop Gage attorney Mark "Sox" Levison was elected to the Board of Governors for the Missouri Bar, returning him to the board on which he had served for 15 consecutive years until last year. Mr. Levison is one of only two lawyers in the history of The Missouri Bar to serve as President of both the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis and the Trial Lawyers Association of St. Louis, and to serve as a member of The Missouri Bar Board of Governors.

This latest election is the latest success in a string of Mr. Levison's commitments to serving the profession -- in 2008, he was appointed to advise the Missouri Citizens’ Commission on Compensation for Elected Officials through its process of coordinating public hearings throughout the state and issuing its report to the Secretary of State fixing the compensation for legislators, judges and other public officials. He was recently a member of the Missouri Legislature's subcommittee on the Privatization of Government Services, and has served as the General Counsel of the Urban League of St. Louis, and the Secretary and Commissioner of the Land Reutilization Authority of St. Louis, Missouri. Mr. Levison is the only lawyer to be elected to the Board of Governors in two different jurisdictions (St. Louis County and the City of St. Louis).

Mr. Levison's legal practice includes complex commercial litigation and the counseling of clients in areas of intellectual property and general litigation. Based in the firm's downtown St. Louis office, he oversees the firm's St. Louis practice in governmental relations and administrative affairs, with a concentration in economic development incentives, real estate and zoning.
