Lathrop GPM’s Sheldon Klein to Moderate AIPLA Panel

WASHINGTON DC (Oct. 18, 2023) — Lathrop GPM LLP is proud to announce that Sheldon Klein, senior counsel in the firm’s Intellectual Property Practice Group, will moderate a panel of United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) judges at the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA) Annual Meeting.

Held at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in Washington DC, the annual meeting will serve as a platform for exchanging knowledge, sharing insights, and fostering connections within the IP community.

Other participants in Klein’s “PTAB and TTAB Challenges” panel will include Sal Bezos, Sterne Kessler, Washington, DC (moderator); Miriam Quinn, PTAB Judge; James Worth, PTAB Judge; Jonathan Hudis, TTAB Judge; and Cynthia Lynch, TTAB Judge. The panel is hosted by AIPLA’s PTAB, Patent-Relations with the USPTO, and Trademark-Relations with the USPTO committees.

Klein served as president of AIPLA and the U.S. section of AIPPI (2018-2019) and has held numerous other leadership roles in the association. His practice focuses on trademark, copyright, unfair competition, advertising, and social media, including availability and infringement opinions, portfolio management, litigation, licensing, and transactions. Klein has handled numerous opposition and cancellation proceedings before the USPTO’s Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB), including a successful opposition, last year, against an application to register BACH N ROLL MUSIC ACADEMY based on his client’s mark BACH TO ROCK.

Klein regularly writes about current issues and presents on IP law topics nationally and internationally. He co-chaired PLI’s annual seminar on Advanced Trademark Law for 14 years and has delivered numerous presentations and webinars for AIPLA, INTA, AIPPI and many other organizations.
