Lathrop GPM Seeks Mansfield Rule Certification
(July 1, 2021) — Lathrop GPM is one of over 160 law firms across the U.S. and Canada participating in the Mansfield Rule 5.0 Certification process. Offered by Diversity Lab, the Mansfield Rule aims to increase representation of women, underrepresented racial and ethnic groups, those with disabilities, and members of the LGBTQ+ community within law firms.
As part of the certification, Lathrop GPM commits to:
- Track candidate pools in a disaggregated manner and include an option for Middle Eastern and North African identity as a self-identification group.
- Consider at least 30% underrepresented lawyers for nomination to Chambers USA.
- Consider at least 30% underrepresented individuals when hiring and promoting C-level or other senior-level professional staff roles.
This and other criteria will be measured twice a year through data collection and check-in meetings with Diversity Lab.
Since its inception in 2017, achieving the Mansfield Rule Certification has shown to increase firm diversity and leadership. In addition, it will open Lathrop GPM to additional opportunities to promote and celebrate diversity at the firm through networking events with other diverse lawyers and leaders in the legal and corporate communities.
