5/4/2021

MINNEAPOLIS (May 4, 2021) — Lathrop GPM is proud to announce that it has named Marya Robben, a partner in the firm’s Minneapolis office, to lead its Trusts, Estates & Legacy Planning Practice Group. As practice group leader, Robben will guide practice growth and oversee the delivery of customized solutions to clients’ most important wealth-transfer and business-succession concerns.

Robben, who joined the firm in 2017, practices primarily in the areas of estate planning, estate and gift taxation, fiduciary representation, probate administration, trust formation and administration, and guardianship and conservatorship law.

“I’m excited to step into this new role to oversee and grow this multi-disciplinary practice,” Robben said. “Our team’s technical skill is unmatched, and we take great pride in helping clients navigate estate planning, administration and litigation. They can rest easy, even during these uncertain times, knowing a full advisory team is creating a strategic plan that fits within their legacy goals.”

Lathrop GPM’s Trusts, Estates & Legacy Planning Practice offers comprehensive estate and wealth-planning strategies for individuals and multigenerational families with significant wealth, nonprofit foundations, and family offices. The group serves clients from coast to coast, combining sophisticated representation with Midwestern practicality.

“Marya’s strong technical estate planning and leadership skills are invaluable to her clients and to our firm’s Trusts, Estates & Legacy Planning group,” said Managing Partner Cameron Garrison. “This group shines at serving clients’ need to protect their legacies, and that will no doubt continue under Marya’s leadership as an important part of Lathrop GPM’s strategic growth in 2021.”

In addition to her practice, Robben is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC), a national organization of approximately 2,600 lawyers elected to membership by demonstrating the highest level of integrity, commitment to the profession, competence, and experience. She has also been recognized by Minnesota Super Lawyers and Best Lawyers in America© and served as an adjunct professor at the University of St. Thomas School of Law, teaching courses on Wills, Trusts & Estates. She currently co-chairs the Minnesota State Bar Association’s Litigation Committee of the Probate & Trust Law Section, and she formerly co-chaired the American Bar Association’s Generation Skipping Transfer Tax Committee of the Real Property, Trust and Estate Law Section.

Robben earned her B.A. from Marquette University and her J.D. from University of Minnesota Law School.
