As sure as the sun rises in the east, institutions of higher education encounter lawsuits from students, faculty, employees, and others. At this breakfast, we will discuss the highlights and lowlights of some of the prominent litigation matters involving higher education institutions in 2010, including some in which Gray Plant Mooty attorneys participated. The cases cover the wide range of issues that face higher education institutions, including disputes over charitable donations, personal injuries to students and staff, payroll taxes for medical residents at teaching hospitals, special issues involving religious student groups, and employment claims.
