When asked about his personal philosophy, Loren Hansen said, “I find it rewarding to work with passionate individuals. I want our clients to stay focused on their business even amid legal disputes, and it is an honor to advocate for purpose-driven people and businesses.”
As the practice group leader for Lathrop GPM’s IP litigation practice group, a chemical engineer and a Registered Patent Attorney, Loren Hansen handles complex intellectual property matters across diverse market sectors. An accomplished first-chair trial lawyer, Loren focuses on patent infringement, software and technology disputes, trade secret misappropriation and other complex litigation.
When asked…
Why did you become a lawyer?
Earlier in my career, I worked as a consultant, designing and developing custom software packages for large national health insurers. This experience, combined with my education as a chemical engineer, gave me the insight to address clients’ complex technical questions. It also equipped me with the communication skills necessary to translate intricate ideas into understandable terms. This unique blend of technical and communication skills is what inspired me to become an attorney, allowing me to advocate for my clients in the most challenging situations effectively.
What do you do outside of work?
Outside of work, I stay deeply involved in the community and my family. I served as President and Secretary of my church’s Council of Ministers, where I had the opportunity to contribute to our congregation’s growth and outreach. I am dedicated to environmental conservation and spent seven years sitting on the governance and executive committees for the board of the Minnesota Land Trust. This nonprofit organization is committed to protecting and restoring Minnesota’s most vital natural lands, ensuring wildlife habitat, clean water, outdoor experiences and scenic beauty for future generations. On the weekends, you will often find me on the soccer field sidelines or in the ballfield stands cheering for my daughter and son.
