Lane Adams is an associate in the firm’s Intellectual Property Litigation practice group. He focuses his practice on complex patent litigation. Lane has experience representing clients in district court litigation and parallel PTAB proceedings involving technologies across the telecommunications, industrial, network security, and gaming industries.

Lane has defended several Fortune 500 companies against claims of patent infringement, through district court litigation and Inter Partes Review (IPR). His experiences include preparing invalidity contentions, collaborating with technical experts on claim construction issues, drafting IPRs and related briefings, coordinating workflows across multi-office litigation teams, serving as local counsel in Kansas District Court, and recruiting and mentoring junior associates and summer associate interns.

Prior to entering private practice, Lane worked as a research technician in the Genome Engineering team at the Stowers Institute for Medical Research, where he collaborated on molecular biology research initiatives and laboratory protocol development. Lane’s scientific background in biochemistry helps him to deeply understand complex technologies, while developing practical litigation strategies for clients.

During law school, Lane served as president of the UMKC Intellectual Property Law Society and lead articles editor for the UMKC Law Review. He also participated in UMKC’s Intellectual Property Clinic, where he advised clients on trademark and copyright matters and developed intellectual property guidance materials for small businesses.
