John Whitworth brings the perspective of a former in-house counsel who has significant experience managing complex labor challenges. Having directed national labor disputes, union campaigns and collective bargaining for national employers, John operates as a strategic advisor and business partner first, helping clients anticipate and manage labor and employment risk before it escalates. His approach is grounded in real-world experience: the best labor strategies are proactive, not reactive, driven by planning, discipline and alignment between legal and operations.

John Whitworth is Counsel in Lathrop GPM’s Labor & Employment Practice Group, where he focuses on labor strategy, high-stakes union matters, and employment issues. Drawing on his background as in-house counsel, John serves as an advisor to employers navigating the complexities of labor relations, collective bargaining and National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) proceedings.

Prior to Lathrop GPM, John led dozens of union campaigns, participated in hundreds of collective bargaining sessions, and managed a lengthy national trucking strike covering 13 locations across the country.  John has advised employers across industries on labor and employment strategy, including collective bargaining, union organizing response, NLRB matters and executive labor advisory services.
