Rachel McCauley is an associate in the firm’s Litigation practice group, where she focuses her practice on complex commercial litigation and antitrust matters. She represents clients in disputes pending in both California state and federal courts and assists case teams across all phases of the litigation life cycle.

Rachel’s experience includes robust motion drafting, including motions to dismiss, motions for summary judgment, discovery motions and Daubert motions. She has contributed to achieving favorable outcomes for clients, including a full dismissal with prejudice in a fraud matter, which was affirmed by the Ninth Circuit. Rachel also has experience advising on litigation strategy and managing discovery in complex matters, including taking depositions, attending discovery conferences and arguing motions.

Prior to joining Lathrop GPM, Rachel served as a judicial intern in both federal and state courts. She was a judicial intern to the Honorable Charles P. Kocoras of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, where she drafted orders and worked on matters involving civil litigation. She also served as a judicial intern to the Honorable Steven K. Austin of the Contra Costa County Superior Court, Civil Division, where she conducted legal research, drafted rulings and memoranda, and assisted the court during motion hearings.

Before attending law school, Rachel worked as a litigation paralegal at boutique firms focusing on product liability matters, providing her with a strong foundation in litigation support and case management. She is a member of The Bar Association of San Francisco and was recognized by Best Lawyers as a “One to Watch” in 2026. Rachel was also recognized by the Northern District of California’s Pro Bono Committee as a member of the trial team of the year related to her advocacy in Flanagan v.
