Madeline represents clients in complex litigation matters, with a particular focus on tort, insurance, environmental, product liability, and class action defense. She assists clients through all stages of the litigation process, handling written discovery, motion practice, depositions, settlement negotiations, trial preparation, and related case strategy. Madeline works closely with clients and other stakeholders to develop practical, business-oriented approaches to resolving high-stakes disputes, including managing discovery, depositions and motion practice, while maintaining clear communication throughout each phase.
Prior to joining Lathrop GPM, Madeline was a litigation associate at another large Missouri-based law firm, where she managed a variety of complex matters involving fire and electrical liability claims, class action litigation, and other commercial disputes. Before entering private practice, Madeline served as an arson investigator with Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services, investigating arson and related criminal matters. She also worked as a firefighter/paramedic where she responded to emergency calls. This unique background provides her with firsthand technical knowledge of fire origin and cause investigations, emergency response operations, and the complex factual issues that often arise in fire loss, product liability, and catastrophic injury matters.
During law school, Madeline worked as a legal intern with the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Kansas, where she analyzed compassionate release cases and presented on fire safety at the annual District of Kansas Conference. She also served as a Douglass Fellow with the Human Trafficking Institute, contributing to the Federal Human Trafficking Report and organizing an anti-trafficking continuing legal education program for the Kansas City legal community.
