Kristopher Fernandez is an associate in the firm’s Tort, Insurance & Environmental Practice Group, where he focuses his practice on complex litigation and insurance-related matters. He has experience representing corporate clients in commercial disputes, class actions, mass torts and financial services litigation in both state and federal courts.

Prior to joining the firm, Kristopher practiced as a litigation associate at national law firms in Chicago, where he represented clients across a range of industries, including financial institutions, collegiate athletics, pharmaceuticals and insurance-adjacent businesses. His experience includes extensive motion practice, written discovery and court appearances, as well as pretrial and trial preparation. Kristopher has drafted and argued motions to dismiss and motions to compel arbitration, assisted with class certification briefing, prepared expert witnesses and reports, and supported matters through trial and appeal.

Kristopher has also defended financial institutions in class action litigation involving overdraft fee claims and successfully represented corporate clients in high-stakes federal litigation, including obtaining dismissal of a RICO action that was affirmed on appeal by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.

Earlier in his career, Kristopher served as part of a fellowship program where he worked with public interest organizations in Illinois and Missouri. In that role, he managed a substantial caseload, represented clients in administrative and court proceedings, negotiated case resolutions, and drafted and argued dispositive motions.

Kristopher earned his J.D. from Duke University School of Law, where he was a Dean’s Scholarship recipient and served as Special Projects Editor of the Duke Journal of Constitutional Law & Public Policy. While in law school, he also participated in the Health Justice Clinic as a certified student attorney. He received his B.A. in Philosophy and Political Science, summa cum laude, from Northeastern University.
