As the leader of the firm’s Intellectual Property Practice Group, Kate Tompkins oversees the firm’s complex IP prosecution and transactional practice and its operational infrastructure. She is responsible for the strategic direction and daily operations of the entire intellectual property prosecution and transactions practice and its continued growth in life sciences, mechanical, chemical, and electrical engineering arts.

Kate has served as a Director of Practice Management since 2019 and as a senior administrative leader with the IP practice group since 2015. She is a seasoned law firm operations and legal marketing professional and is passionate about the success of our clients, practitioners and support staff. With persistence and a sharp eye on innovation and exceptional client service, Kate implements scalable systems, processes and technology to manage client requirements, docketing, and financial performance. She builds and directs effective teams which contribute to strengthening client relationships and growth of the IP group nationally.

Previously, Kate held business development, marketing and management roles with some of the nation’s largest law firms. She is a member of the Legal Sales and Service Organization (LSSO), a national membership group for client relationship and business development professionals. She received her bachelor’s degree from Quinnipiac University and is a certified White Belt in Legal Lean Sigma and Project Management.

Outside of the office, Kate enjoys chasing after her three young children and spending time by the water.
