Joshua Yoo is an associate bringing a strong background in litigation and public service to the firm’s Sacramento office. He has a proven track record of managing complex caseloads, conducting trials and arguing substantive legal matters in both trial and appellate courts.

Prior to joining the firm, Joshua served as a Deputy District Attorney at the County of Santa Clara Office of the District Attorney, where he gained extensive experience in various units. In these roles, Joshua managed high-volume dockets, made independent charging decisions in hundreds of cases ranging from minor offenses to attempted murder and negotiated numerous plea deals. He successfully conducted jury trials to verdict, presented cases to the grand jury, and argued before the California Sixth District Court of Appeal in a sentencing-related appeal. Joshua also drafted and litigated complex post-conviction motions, appeals and habeas corpus matters, including constitutional and statutory claims.

Joshua’s experience at the County of Santa Clara Office of the District Attorney also included roles as a Post Bar Clerk, 2L Honors Law Clerk and Law Clerk in Motions, Writs, and Appeals & Juvenile Justice. Prior to his legal career, Joshua was a high school chemistry teacher through Teach for America.

Joshua earned his J.D. from the University of California – Berkeley School of Law. During law school, he was active in the Berkeley Law Trial Team, East Bay Dreamers Project, Asian Pacific American Law Student Association, and the Asian American Law Journal. He also holds an M.S. in Public Policy from New York University, and a B.S. in Biology from Illinois Wesleyan University. Joshua is fluent in Korean.
