Two Partners Recognized for Civil Rights Insurance Recovery Work on Missouri Lawyers’ Power 30 List
Dec. 17, 2020 — Lathrop GPM Partners Michael J. Abrams and William G. Beck have been named to the Missouri Lawyers Media “Power 30” list for 2020 in recognition of their work in commercial and consumer law.
Seasoned litigators in the firm’s Kansas City, Missouri, office, Abrams and Beck are leaders among the firm’s niche Civil Rights Insurance Recovery team. Since 2004, the team has helped to recover more than $190 million for wrongfully convicted people, including a 2019 appellate victory that obtained insurance coverage for a $16.5 million settlement for the families of three wrongfully convicted Mississippi men.
Missouri Lawyers Media also highlighted Beck’s reputation for defending companies in major toxic tort and environmental litigation and stated that Abrams is “also known for his successful defense of a pharmaceutical company from a $7 million counterclaim in 2018 and a $1.3 million settlement in a trademark dispute involving the Guy’s potato chip brands.”
