SAN JOSE, Calif. (December 5, 2024) — Lathrop GPM is pleased to announce that Partner Monique Jewett-Brewster has been elected Regent of the American College of Commercial Finance Lawyers (ACCFL), a professional organization dedicated to promoting the field of commercial finance law.
She was named to the Board of Regents during the ACCFL’s 2024 Annual Spring Meeting & Dinner on April 5, 2024, at Charley’s Steakhouse in Orlando, Florida. Her four-year term as Regent will expire in 2028.
The ACCFL promotes commercial finance law through education, legislative reform and the recognition of distinguished practitioners, jurists and academics. The College brings together highly qualified members of the legal profession who contribute to the organization’s goals and accomplishments.
“I am honored to sit on the Board of Regents alongside such esteemed colleagues in commercial finance law,” said Jewett-Brewster, who also now serves on the Regents Nomination Committee for 2024-2025. “The ACCFL does important work promoting developments in our field, and I look forward to advancing conversations and sharing knowledge to better serve our clients in this industry.”
Jewett-Brewster has over 20 years of experience advising creditor clients in every aspect of insolvency law, including without limitation, in the workout, restructuring and enforcement of commercial loans and in business bankruptcy cases nationwide. Her clients include financial institutions, private money lenders, equipment leasing companies, asset purchasers, commercial landlords and tenants, receivers and trustees, credit unions and judgment creditors. She also counsels the City of Oakland on bankruptcy matters.
Prior to her election as Regent, Jewett-Brewster was only one of 14 attorneys in the United States, Canada and Mexico to have been selected for and inducted into the ACCFL’s 2023 class of Fellows. The ACCFL Fellows are practicing lawyers, jurists and academics licensed to practice law who have maintained excellent character, achieved preeminence in the field and made substantial and sustained contributions to the promotion of learning and scholarship in commercial finance law through teaching, lecturing, published writings or continuing legal education.
