Lathrop GPM partner Jay Ross recently served as moderator for the 2025 SJSU Economic Summit, an annual event hosted by the San José State University Center for Banking and Financial Services (CBFS) and the Lucas College and Graduate School of Business. The summit, which gathered nearly 400 business and community leaders, students, faculty and staff, provided a comprehensive analysis and forecast of economic activity at local, state and national levels. Lathrop GPM was a proud sponsor of the event.

The summit featured prominent speakers including Christopher Thornberg, founding partner of Beacon Economics, and Congressman Sam Liccardo. Congressman Liccardo spoke on the critical need for an “innovation agenda” to restore U.S. competitiveness, advocating for a bipartisan approach. Thornberg’s presentation highlighted that California and the Bay Area are misdiagnosing their core issues, focusing on symptoms rather than underlying problems like housing supply and narratives intensifying economic imbalances.

The event aims to foster meaningful connections between the campus, local businesses, and the broader community, providing valuable insights into current economic situations and inspiring future leaders to form visionary solutions.
