(June 5, 2026) — Lathrop GPM is pleased to announce that attorneys John M. Byrom and Charles Heins have joined the firm’s Business Transactions practice group as associates. Byrom will be based in the firm’s Dallas office and Heins will be joining the firm’s Kansas City office.

Byrom focuses his practice on energy-related transactional matters, with an emphasis in the upstream oil and gas sector and title examination. His experience primarily includes rendering original, supplemental, division order, and acquisition title opinions; analyzing oil and gas lease provisions; preparing instruments affecting land title, and advising clients on acquisitions and divestitures of oil and gas assets. Byrom earned both his J.D. cum laude from Texas Tech University School of Law and his M.B.A. from Texas Tech University in 2014. He received his B.B.A. cum laude from Texas Christian University in 2011.

Heins concentrates his practice on corporate finance and transactional matters, including mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance and securities transactions for both privately held and publicly traded companies. He regularly advises clients on strategic acquisitions, investments and capital raises and counsels private and family-owned businesses. Heins earned his J.D. from the University of Iowa College of Law in 2018 and his B.A. in Global Political Economy & International Politics from the University of Denver in 2013.
