Gillian Wener is an associate in the firm’s Tort, Insurance & Environmental practice group. She focuses her practice on all areas of environmental law, including regulatory compliance, due diligence, enforcement actions and litigation. Gillian has an extensive background in regulatory compliance and utilizes her prior experience working for state environmental departments to help clients navigate enforcement issues, permit appeals, and other environmental matters in federal court, state court, and administrative tribunals.

Gillian has experience managing environmental regulatory compliance for clients operating in the U.S. and abroad, including evaluating the impacts of new regulations to their operations, forecasting enforcement trends, and assessing EHS compliance.

Prior to joining the firm, Gillian served as an Assistant Attorney General in the Environment, Natural Resources, & Agriculture (ENRA) Division of the Michigan Department of Attorney General. In that role, she handled a diverse caseload of complex civil enforcement and regulatory matters, including representing the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) before federal courts, state courts, and administrative tribunals. She also handled matters related to the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Safe Drinking Water Act, NPDES permits, environmental health, and rulemaking.
