Gawon Kim is an associate in Lathrop GPM’s Redwood Shores office and a member of the firm’s Private Client Services practice. She advises high-net-worth individuals and multinational clients on cross-border tax planning, wealth-transfer strategies and asset protection.

Prior to joining Lathrop GPM, Gawon was an International Tax Associate at PwC US Tax, LLP, where she counseled clients on complex international tax matters and optimized entity structures to reduce long-term tax burdens. She drafted technical memoranda supporting taxpayer positions in IRS examinations, appeals and matters advancing to U.S. Tax Court, and prepared individual, fiduciary, estate, gift and international tax returns.

Gawon earned her J.D., cum laude, from the University of California Law San Francisco (f.k.a UC Hastings) with a concentration in tax law. During law school she served as Production Editor of the Hastings International and Comparative Law Review and advised early-stage companies on formation, capitalization and licensing through UC Law SF’s Startup Legal Garage.
