Dylan Spearman advises public and independent exploration and production companies on energy transactions. He works with clients to address the technical and strategic challenges of acquisitions, divestitures and development projects in the oil and gas sector.
Dylan’s practice includes analyzing mineral ownership, leasehold interests and encumbrances related to oil and gas operations. He reviews and interprets oil and gas leases, assignments and related agreements during transactional due diligence. He identifies title defects and coordinates curative efforts with landmen, operators and internal deal teams to help clients make informed decisions.
He has conducted detailed title examinations for upstream acquisitions, financings and divestitures involving producing and nonproducing assets. Dylan reviews title opinions, mineral deeds, leases, assignments and other instruments to identify potential title defects, encumbrances and curative needs. He prepares title summaries, schedules and risk assessments to support clients through deal closings.
Before joining the firm, Dylan worked as an associate attorney at a Texas-based firm handling oil and gas matters, including preparing title opinions and drafting legal documents for property conveyances, mineral interest transfers and curative title issues. Earlier in his career, he worked at Deloitte, where he gained experience in tax planning and transactional strategy for large corporations and partnerships.
