Carus Newman is an associate supporting clients in matters involving environmental law and land use litigation. Prior to joining Lathrop GPM, Carus worked as a summer associate at a California-based firm, where he researched legal liabilities in environmental clean-up litigation and land use issues involving endangered species and zoning regulations. He also drafted commercial leases, lease amendments, and purchase and sale agreements, and assisted in a pro bono adoption and benefits case.
Carus earned his J.D. from the University of Southern California Gould School of Law, where he served as Executive Senior Editor of the Southern California Law Review. He was named a Public Interest Scholar and received high honors in Advanced Legal Writing, Contracts and Land Use. While in law school, Carus was President of the Environmental and Energy Law Society and volunteered with the USC Basic Needs Office and Housing Clinic as a legal volunteer.
