Abby Rooney serves as Lathrop GPM’s Chief Human Resources Officer, bringing more than 20 years of experience leading strategic HR initiatives within the legal industry. A forward‑thinking and people‑centered leader, she oversees all aspects of human resources, including talent strategy, recruiting, performance management, employee engagement, compensation and benefits, and HR operations.

Throughout her career, Abby has built HR programs that strengthen organizational culture, support professional development and enhance overall firm performance. She has extensive experience advising firm leadership on workforce strategy, succession planning and change management, and is known for fostering collaborative, inclusive and solutions‑oriented work environments.

Before joining the firm, Abby spent nearly two decades at another full-service law firm, where she served in multiple leadership roles, including Chief Operating Officer and Director of Human Resources. In these roles, she partnered closely with executive leadership to:

  • guide firmwide operational strategy;
  • advance diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives;
  • implement talent development programs; and
  • oversee key business functions such as HRIS management, benefits administration and compliance.

Abby is an active member of the Society for Human Resource Management and the Association of Legal Administrators, where she has held several leadership positions at both the national and Minnesota chapter levels. She earned her B.A. in Sociology from the University of Minnesota.
