Michael Ewald is an associate within the firm’s Business Transactions practice group. With a background in business and communications matters, Michael understands the importance of listening to clients and perfecting their message to achieve desirable outcomes.

Michael’s practice focuses on general corporate and business law, tax credit compliance, mergers and acquisitions, securities and commercial transactions. He enjoys working with startup companies and entrepreneurs helping them understand the legal dimensions of launching their business ventures.

Prior to joining Lathrop GPM, Michael served as a judicial law clerk to the Hon. R. Lange, Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court for the District of South Dakota, as well as externing in law school for the South Dakota Supreme Court’s chief justice. Before pursuing a legal career, Michael led creative marketing campaigns for a public university and represented their brand as a media spokesperson. He has counseled numerous executive leadership teams on marketing and messaging strategies. 

Michael is a proud supporter of high school and college speech and debate activities.
