Elizabeth "Beth" Haden

Beth brings a breath of fresh air to the industry and works with banks and corporate leaders, helping them to navigate lending transactions and compliance issues in the finance realm.

Elizabeth "Beth" Haden is a partner in Lathrop GPM's Business Transactions Group. She represents lenders and borrowers in lending transactions. She has considerable experience assisting clients with all forms of financing matters from the structuring of deals to drafting and negotiating the required documentation and managing complex closings through loan enforcements and workouts.

Counsel in single-bank, club and syndicated credit facilities, Beth's areas of emphasis include commercial and industrial, real estate, unsecured, agricultural, construction and asset-based loans. She also counsels corporate clients with respect to acquisition finance issues.

Recent examples of Beth's work include:

• Negotiated a multi-million-dollar construction loan for a large community-based nonprofit to build a new facility.
• Represented a borrower in a term loan facility to finance its acquisition of a new line of business, including addressing the finance aspects of the underlying purchase agreement.
• Led a multi-million-dollar construction loan to redevelop and repurpose a significant property in downtown Kansas City.
• Management of more than $300 million of credit facilities for a corporate healthcare holding company.
• Representation of multiple regional banks in real estate acquisition loans.

Prior to joining Lathrop GPM, Beth was a partner in an international law firm, with a focus on commercial lending.

As a member of the Children's Center for the Visually Impaired board of directors, Beth helped foster the organization's mission to serve blind and visually impaired children, their families, and the community through specialized education and therapy services. She led the organization as board president during the first school year after the rise of the coronavirus and faced daily new issues and difficulties as the organization adapted to serve a medically fragile population of children aged birth through kindergarten during a global pandemic. She is also the current treasurer and the immediate past president of the Children's Center Campus board of directors, which owns and operates the building housing two area nonprofits.

In October 2023, Beth received the Distinguished Alumna award from her high school, St. Teresa's Academy. She was also appointed by Mayor Quinton Lucas to become the President of the City of Kansas City, Missouri Board of Parks and Recreation Commissioners.

In addition to serving the community at large, Beth believes that one must also be actively involved with the business community. She is a member of the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce and graduated from its Centurions program in 2020. Beth serves on the Chamber's Business for Education Committee, which strives to support efforts and policies necessary for a well-connected, high-performing education system serving all students (particularly those who have been chronically underserved) and supporting critical workforce and business needs. 

Beth was recently named a 2023 Up & Coming Lawyer by Missouri Lawyers Weekly and was recognized in the 24th class of Ingram's "40 Under Forty." In addition, she has been named a Missouri & Kansas Super Lawyer Rising Star every year since 2014. She received the Delta Gamma Oxford Award in 2021 and was named a "Rising Star" by The Independent in 2016.

Beth earned her J.D. from the University of Missouri in 2009, her L.L.M. in Taxation from Boston University in 2010, and B.S.B.A. from the University of Missouri in 2006. She resides in Kansas City, Missouri.

WHEN ASKED...

Why did you become a lawyer?

I am the daughter of a Lathrop GPM litigator, and I grew up in the industry. Witnessing lawyers represent clients with fervor and understanding their business needs made me want to do the same. Now, I enjoy every challenge, especially serving clients in financial and other business transactions, an area that traditionally was a male-dominated field for both bankers and lawyers. 

What do you do outside of work?

I spend a lot of time on volunteer and community activities in Kanas City and in the region. I am also a sports fanatic, and hold season tickets to the Chiefs, Mizzou football, Mizzou men's basketball, and the KC Current.
