8/19/2010

Lathrop Gage attorney Kurt Schaefer (Environment - Jefferson City) was a guest panelist yesterday at "Regional Solutions for Water Quality Protection," as part of the two-day Attorney General's Symposium "Lake of the Ozarks: An Environmental Road Map for the Future." The conference took place at the Tan-Tar-A Resort in Lake of the Ozarks, and featured analytical presentations from civic leaders and water quality experts from the region.

Mr. Schaefer, who serves as Vice-Chair of the Missouri Senate's Commerce, Consumer Protection, Energy and the Environment Committee, was joined by Jim Rogers of the Lake of the Ozarks Watershed Alliance, Mayor Penny Lyons of Osage Beach and the Joint Sewer Board, and Stan Schultz, P.E., from Schultz & Summers Engineering, Inc. The panel covered the crucial role played by public institutions to ensure that the environment is protected and that consumers have access to safe, reliable and reasonably priced utility services.

Governor Jay Nixon opened the symposium with an address. Attorney General Chris Koster hosted the two-day symposium, exploring the total range of water-quality issues confronting the Lake of the Ozarks today and over the next 20 years.

A State Senator for the 19th Senate district, Mr. Schaefer's practice focuses on litigation, environmental, health care, governmental relations, administrative, business and public utilities.
