ALI-ABA Features Al Martin in “Navigating Health Care Reform”

Lathrop Gage attorney Al Martin (Employee Benefits, Healthcare & General Business - Overland Park) will be a guest speaker at an ALI-ABA conference titled “Navigating Health Care Reform: Challenges for Employers and Plan Administrators." The two-day session will be held at the Roosevelt Hotel in New York, June 21-22, 2010.

The course provides a comprehensive and practical review of the new health care legislation, focused on a multitude of employee benefits, small business, and tax changes. Mr. Martin and fellow speakers will address near-term issues as well as those that will take effect down the road. Topics will include individual and employer mandates, grandfathered group health plans, immediate plan standards, small business-specific provisions, employer-paid prescription drug subsidy exclusion, taxes on high income individuals, high value plans, and the health industry, and the economic substance doctrine.

Mr. Martin is a recognized national authority in the fields of business law, taxation, health care, and retirement plans. He serves as general counsel for over 300 privately owned businesses.
