The American College of Trust and Estate Counsel Elects New 2013-2014 Fellow and a Board Member from Gray Plant Mooty

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (March 20, 2013) — Gray Plant Mooty is pleased to announce that The American College of Trust and Estate Counsel has elected Ann Burns to the Board of Regents and Robert Mairs as a fellow in the college.

The American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC) is a nonprofit association of lawyers established in 1949. All ACTEC members have made substantial contributions to the field of trusts and estates law through writing, teaching, and bar leadership activities. The members work together in a collegial manner to:

  • Enhance their ability to provide the most efficient and highest quality services to their clients
  • Develop qualified trust and estate counselors
  • Improve and reform probate, trust and tax laws, procedures, and standards of professional responsibility
  • Cooperate with bar associations and other organizations with similar missions

At Gray Plant Mooty, Ann is the chair of the Trust, Estate & Charitable Planning group, and her practice focuses on estate and charitable planning, business succession planning, estate and trust administration, and fiduciary and tax litigation. In 2010, she was featured in an article in The New York Times focusing on the uncertainty of the estate tax.

Robert's practice focuses on trusts and estates, probate, charitable giving, and estate, gift, and fiduciary tax planning. He is a frequent lecturer, and has given presentations for the Annual Probate & Trust Law Section Conferences, Minnesota Probate and Trust Law CLE’s, among others.
