Technology Transactions Guide Published
MINNEAPOLIS (October 9, 2019) – Michael R. Cohen, a Principal and the Privacy Officer at Gray Plant Mooty, has written A Legal Guide to Technology Transactions 2019. A collaborative effort between Gray Plant Mooty and the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED), the publication should help businesses and organizations when negotiating technology agreements.
Information technology affects operations, management, performance, and the profitability of businesses of all sizes. The guide covers some of the unique issues to consider in information technology acquisitions and related agreements, including warranties, indemnities, payment, implementation, training, limitations of liability, remedies, service levels, acceptance testing, vendor selection and management, regulatory compliance, data privacy, and cybersecurity.
“Noteworthy in this 2019 technology guide, is the coverage of Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, Blockchain Technology, and Smart Contracts. It also addresses new data privacy and security laws impacting businesses today, including the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA),” Cohen said.
This book is an update to one authored by Cohen and published collaboratively between Gray Plant Mooty and DEED in 2012. “I hope that businesses will look at technology agreements as a way to more efficiently manage an otherwise complex project that is essential to business and not just as a way to allocate legal risk and liability,” Cohen added.
