Gray Plant Mooty Elects Six New Shareholders

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (January 3, 2011) — The Minneapolis-based law firm of Gray Plant Mooty is pleased to announce that six attorneys—Brian Dillon, Inchan Hwang, Jeremy Johnson, Greg Larson, Kermit Nash, and Matthew Shea—have been elected shareholders of the firm, effective January 1, 2011.

Brian Dillon represents businesses and individuals in a variety of commercial disputes, and he specializes in matters that involve government regulators. Dillon regularly assists clients in their efforts to avoid or respond to federal, state, and local government investigations and enforcement matters, and to participate in regulatory proceedings before government agencies. Before joining Gray Plant Mooty, Dillon served as an assistant attorney general in the Minnesota Attorney General's Office and as an associate in the Madison office of a large Wisconsin law firm. He earned his J.D., with honors, from the University of Wisconsin Law School.

Inchan Hwang focuses his practice in the areas of domestic and international business law transactions, corporate finance, securities law, and mergers and acquisitions. Hwang has represented private and public clients operating in a variety of industries—including agriculture, manufacturing, higher education, and medical devices—in corporate dept and equity restructuring, venture capital financing, private and public offerings, and mergers and acquisitions. Hwang, who is fluent in both the Korean and Japanese languages, brings clients practical business experience from his previous employment with a major automobile manufacturer. He received his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Minnesota Law School.

Jeremy Johnson focuses his practice on business litigation, with an emphasis on antitrust, competitive practices matters, and intellectual property. Johnson has significant experience representing clients in disputes involving antitrust, class actions, trade secrets, unfair competition, false advertising, copyright, patent, and trademark infringement. Minnesota Law & Politics magazine named Johnson a “Rising Star” in 2009 and 2010. He received his J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School.

Greg Larson provides legal counsel to a wide range of nonprofit organizations and health care providers. Larson assists nonprofit organizations in all aspects of their businesses, including formation, tax-exemption matters, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, regulatory matters, and general business matters. He advises health care providers on medical staff matters, regulatory compliance, joint ventures, and mergers and acquisitions. Prior to entering law school, Larson worked as an editor for a book publisher and taught college courses in rhetoric and composition. He received his J.D., magna cum laude, from the William Mitchell College of Law.

Kermit Nash serves as corporate counsel to numerous privately-held domestic and international companies, advising his clients on all aspects of business operations and law. Nash represents and advises clients in a variety of industries, including high tech, medical devices, life sciences, private equity, agricultural and food processing, manufacturing, software, and e-commerce. He also represents clients’ interests in various business transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, sales, financing, licensing, distribution, intellectual property management, and strategic planning. Nash received his J.D. from the Hamline University School of Law.

Matthew Shea practices in the areas of estate planning, business succession planning, estate and trust administration, and international estate and tax planning. He works with executives, business owners, dentists, and physicians to address their unique estate planning issues. Shea assists clients in achieving their estate planning goals and guides families through the estate settlement and administration process after they have lost a loved one. Minnesota Law & Politics magazine has named Shea a “Rising Star” five times. In addition, Shea is an adjunct law professor at the University of St. Thomas Law School, where he teaches courses on Wills, Trusts, and Estates and Estate Taxation and Estate Planning. Shea received his J.D., cum laude, from the William Mitchell College of Law.
