1/23/2017

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (January 23, 2017) — The law firm of Gray Plant Mooty is pleased to share that four members of its Trademark Team—Jennifer Debrow, Ashley Bennett Ewald, Dean Eyler, and Sheldon Klein—have been ranked in the 2017 World Trademark Review 1000.

Minneapolis-based Debrow was recognized by clients as a “fantastic attorney” who is “very responsive and seriously considers the business side of things. When clients are pushed against the wall with deadlines, she is able to help them out.” “She has a nuanced grasp of the issues facing food companies, franchisors and non-governmental organisations,” WTR concludes. Debrow chairs the firm’s Intellectual Property, Technology & Privacy Practice Group and regularly assists clients with brand development and provides strategic advice in selecting and protecting trademarks domestically and internationally. Debrow received her J.D. from the University of Wisconsin.

Minneapolis-based Ashley Bennett Ewald “effortlessly dispatches both contentious and non-contentious matters,” according to WTR, which also cites her expertise in the area of social media. Ewald is a corporate litigator and trademark prosecution specialist who regularly advises clients on the selection, clearance, and registration of trademarks and copyrights. Ewald also develops intellectual property enforcement, brand strategy, and social media plans for clients ranging from small startups to large multinational corporations. She has special expertise in obtaining domestic and international trademark registrations. Ewald received her J.D. from the University of Minnesota.

Minneapolis-based Dean Eyler was hailed in this year’s edition as “redoubtable” for his leadership role in the firm’s representation of Sabertooth Motor Group in its ongoing trademark infringement litigation. As chair of Gray Plant Mooty’s Intellectual Property Litigation Practice Group, Eyler focuses his practice on complex commercial and intellectual property litigation and has substantial experience in litigating trademark, trade dress, patent infringement, patent ownership, copyright, trade secret, false advertising, and unfair competition cases. Eyler received his J.D. from the University of Iowa.

Washington, D.C.-based Sheldon Klein was praised by clients as “very knowledgeable” about trademark prosecution and litigation. “Consistently delivering work that is of the highest standard,” one client reports, “he is efficient and always knows how best to proceed to maximise the security of your intellectual property. With his assistance, you can rest easy knowing that your interests are being taken care of.” Klein has over 30 years’ experience in counseling, portfolio management, litigation, licensing, and transactions in the areas of trademark, copyright, unfair competition, advertising law, and social media. He assists clients with a wide range of issues, including selection, clearance, and registration of new trademarks. Klein received his J.D. from George Washington University.

In Minneapolis, Debrow and Ewald were listed in the silver tier for trademark prosecution and strategy, with Ewald and Eyler listed in the silver tier for trademark enforcement and litigation. In Washington, D.C., Klein was listed in the bronze tier for both prosecution and litigation.
