Lathrop Gage Promotes Four to Partner

Kansas City, Mo. (January 3, 2018) – Lathrop Gage promoted four of its attorneys to Partner status, effective January 1, 2018. The newly elected partners are Alex Brown, Alex Clayden, Kyle Hertel, and Jehan Moore.

Alex Brown (Insurance Recovery and Counseling – Kansas City): Brown has litigated dozens of insurance coverage cases across the country on behalf of some of the largest corporations in the world, in federal and state trial and appellate courts, where hundreds of millions of dollars have been in dispute. He also litigates a number of coverage cases involving §1983 civil rights claims on behalf of exonerees who were wrongfully imprisoned. He graduated from the University of Michigan Law School, cum laude.

Alex Clayden (Business Litigation – Denver): Clayden represents individuals and businesses in intellectual property and complex commercial litigation. He has successfully litigated all types of intellectual property matters, securing favorable results for clients in trade secret, trademark, trade dress and patent matters. Clayden’s business litigation practice encompasses a diverse range of topics and industries; including e-commerce disputes, contract claims, consumer fraud claims and business torts, and defense of class actions asserting federal and state claims involving telephone communications, credit reporting, fraud, and wage and hour laws. He also frequently handles employment matters, effectively representing clients in disputes involving discrimination, harassment and retaliation claims, restrictive covenants, and wrongful discharge claims. Clayden received his juris doctor from the University of Virginia School of Law.

Kyle Hertel (Tax & Employee Benefits – Kansas City): Hertel focuses his practice on all aspects of federal income taxation, including entity formation and dissolution, corporate reorganization, partnership and limited liability company issues, and issues affecting charitable and other tax-exempt organizations.  He received his LL.M. in Taxation from the New York University School of Law, and his juris doctor from the University of Kansas School of Law.

Jehan Moore (Business Litigation – Kansas City): Moore focuses her practice on commercial litigation and employment law. She represents business clients in litigated and non-litigated disputes, including breach of contract, business torts, lender liability, and the defense of class actions and consumer protection claims. She partners with clients in a variety of different industries to provide quality legal advice that is responsive, strategic and efficient.  Moore also defends employers in a variety of employment litigation matters, including claims of discrimination and retaliation, wrongful discharge claims, wage disputes, and the enforcement of non-compete agreements. She was chosen as a 2017 Fellow on the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity and recognized as a member of Missouri Lawyers Weekly’s 2017 Up & Coming class. She received her juris doctor from the University of Kansas School of Law.
