Super Lawyers Recognizes Lathrop Gage Attorneys in Massachusetts

BOSTON (Oct. 17, 2014) - Super Lawyers recently announced that two Lathrop Gage attorneys have earned 2014 Massachusetts Super Lawyer honors for their work in intellectual property. Giulio A. DeConti maintained his “Super Lawyer” status for the ninth consecutive year. James H. Velema obtained his second consecutive “Rising Star” award.

Super Lawyers is a rating service based on peer nominations that are supported by interviews, independent research, data verification and good-standing review. Only 5 percent of the lawyers in a given state or region are named Super Lawyers; 2.5 percent qualify as Rising Stars.

DeConti is the partner in charge of the firm’s Boston office and has extensive experience in IP due diligence, patentability, validity and infringement opinions, licensing, and the preparation and prosecution of patents. Specializing in intellectual property strategy for biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and chemistry clients, he is a frequent speaker and writer on current issues facing the industry.

Velema is the team leader of the firm’s Life Sciences Biotechnology practice. He represents clients in the fields of RNA silencing and antibody technology.
