6/18/2020

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (June 18, 2020) – Lathrop GPM Partner Mara Cohara was named among the 2020 “Women Who Mean Business” by the Kansas City Business Journal.

Each year, the Kansas City Business Journal selects 25 exceptional businesswomen in the city and compiles a class of Women Who Mean Business. Honorees represent a variety of industries and are recognized for making significant strides in their profession and community.

Cohara leads the firm’s Environmental and Tort Practice Group, is a member of the Executive Committee, chairs the firm’s Lateral Integration Committee and serves as the Executive Committee co-liaison to the Culture, Diversity & Inclusion Committee and Women’s Initiative Network. In addition to these numerous leadership roles, Cohara maintains an active case load and co-chairs the Merger Integration Committee since the January 2020  combination of Lathrop Gage and Gray Plant Mooty to form Lathrop GPM.

“While many people are invaluable to our firm’s success, I can count on one hand those we truly could not do without – Mara is one of them,” said Managing Partner Cameron Garrison. “Her work leading integration efforts surrounding the combination of two law firms is just the latest example of her tireless commitment to vital firm issues. That Mara could do such an exemplary job on integration while also excelling in her roles as Executive Committee member and chair of one of our largest practice groups, underscores just how valuable she is to Lathrop GPM.”

Cohara is also an active member of the Kansas City community, assuming leadership roles in numerous civic organizations focusing on women, children and education.
