Lathrop Gage Promotes Six Attorneys to Member (Partner) Status

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Jan. 2, 2008) – Lathrop Gage L.C. today announced the promotion of Heather Gill, Jennifer Griffin, Christina Lawrence, James Moloney, Steven McCartan and Kimberly Wingate to members (partners) in the firm, effective Jan. 1, 2008.

Heather Gill has defended clients in civil lawsuits involving alleged violations of state and federal employment discrimination statutes, including Title VII, ADEA, FLSA, FMLA, ADA and Missouri and Kansas Human Rights Acts. She also has represented clients in civil lawsuits involving claims of misappropriation of trade secrets and breach of fiduciary duties. Ms. Gill also has experience defending clients in class-action lawsuits. She served as judicial clerk to Chief Judge Robert G. Ulrich in the Missouri Court of Appeals, Western District, Kansas City, Missouri, and graduated from the DePaul University College of Law.

Jennifer Griffin specializes in representing clients in administrative and regulatory matters and litigation before courts, state boards and state commissions. Her areas of emphasis are gaming, promotional activities such as raffles and sweepstakes, occupational and business licensing, business certification, insurance, state taxes, and governmental law. She has successfully litigated and settled numerous such cases. Ms. Griffin also counsels clients regarding business issues and disputes, and represents clients in civil lawsuits involving contract, tort and constitutional claims. She helped achieve a $4.2 million jury verdict in a cattle fraud case involving a financial institution's breach of fiduciary duty to a lender. She obtained an injunction declaring a state statute unconstitutional that would have imposed burdensome costs on Missouri counties. In addition, Ms. Griffin has expertise in drafting legislation. Ms. Griffin clerked for the Missouri Supreme Court and interned for the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals. She received her J.D. from St. Louis University.

Christina Lawrence has extensive experience in general commercial real estate and is actively involved in the sale, purchase, leasing, development and financing of real estate. Her practice focuses on the negotiation of purchase contracts and leases, structuring sale and leaseback transactions and the structuring of development agreements among multiple entities. Ms. Lawrence has served as lead associate on a variety of real estate transactions for several of the firm's nationally recognized clients. She received her J.D. from the University of Texas.

Steven McCartan represents clients in litigated and non-litigated business to business disputes such as breach of contract matters, loan enforcement actions, construction matters, insurance disputes, regulatory matters, business torts and professional liability matters. He has achieved dismissal of multiple claims in an action arising out of a company's unsuccessful bid for a public contract, has blocked the certification of a class action, and won final dismissal of constitutional claims in a lawsuit involving a public official. Mr. McCartan received his J.D. from the University of Missouri.

James Moloney counsels clients in a variety of complex general litigation matters, including contractual disputes, white collar criminal, product liability defense, securities, employment and intellectual property matters. He has successfully represented clients in California, Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, New York and Pennsylvania. Mr. Moloney helped the firm win a substantial arbitration award for a financial services client in a breach of contract matter, and has also obtained a defense verdict for an insurance company in a multimillion-dollar fraud and breach of contract suit. In a state court of appeals, he successfully argued a high-stakes case on behalf of a major gaming interest, securing its rights to a multimillion-dollar development site. Mr. Moloney received his J.D. from New York University.

Kimberly Wingate has counseled clients on corporate and securities law matters, including business combinations, corporate acquisitions, dispositions and mergers and other fundamental business changes; private offerings of equity and debt securities for issuers in a wide range of industries; corporate control arrangements (including stockholder agreements, voting trusts, etc.); formation of business entities; and disclosure requirements under state and federal securities laws. She has represented both issuers and investors in private placements under Regulation D; represented startup entities with venture capital investments; and represented both public and private entities in mergers and acquisitions and related matters. She received her J.D. from the University of San Diego.
