Three Lathrop Gage Attorneys Recognized by Massachusetts Super Lawyers

Boston (Oct 17, 2019)Massachusetts Super Lawyers recently announced its 2019 list and three attorneys in Lathrop Gage’s Boston office are listed as Rising Stars: Partner-in-Charge of the Boston office Brian C. Trinque, Partner James H. Velema and Partner Andrew T. Wilkins. They are all recognized in the area of Intellectual Property law. 

In addition to being Partner-in-Charge of the Boston office, Trinque is a member of the firm’s Executive Committee. He holds a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry and focuses his practice on patent law in the pharmaceutical and chemical arts. Trinque works with many clients on developing and managing patent portfolios focusing on all aspects of pharmaceutical development and also has experience with technologies outside of the pharmaceutical arts, including process chemistry, polymer and material chemistry, electronic displays, fuel cell technology, biofuels, nutraceuticals and food products. His clients range from Fortune 500 companies to start-ups and universities. Trinque is a 2019 Managing Intellectual Property magazine “IP Star.”

Velema leads Lathrop Gage’s Biotech Patent Prosecution group and his practice includes patent preparation and prosecution, due diligence and opinion work in all areas of biotechnology, including biologic therapies, research tools, screening assays, bioprocessing and purification. A particular focus of his work involves representing clients in the fields of RNA silencing and antibody technology. Velema assists a wide variety of clients ranging from start-ups and emerging biotechnology companies to large academic research institutions and Fortune 500 biotechnology companies.

Wilkins holds a Ph.D. in Molecular Cell Biology and as a patent attorney, focuses his work in the area of biotechnology. With extensive experience in worldwide patent portfolio development and life cycle management, non-infringement and invalidity analysis, post-grant proceedings and IP due diligence, Wilkins advises companies and investors in the biotechnology industry.
