Title IX/VAWA Hearing Panel Training
Higher education institutions are required to provide specialized training on an annual basis to individuals responsible for investigating and adjudicating matters relating to sexual harassment, sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking, including members of your hearing panels. Given these legal obligations, the recent changes to the legal landscape, including 2017 OCR guidance and the expected changes when final regulations are published, the heightened focus on enforcement of Title IX, and the increasing complexity of sexual misconduct matters, regular training for officials involved in the hearing process is essential for avoiding problems before and after a decision is rendered.
Join us for a six-hour in-depth training specifically designed for hearing panel members. The benefits of our training extend beyond merely satisfying your annual training requirements. Our training is conducted by higher education attorneys who regularly advise institutions on all aspects of the sexual misconduct process, from policy drafting through the final resolution of sexual misconduct matters. Because these attorneys also have extensive experience investigating and adjudicating sexual misconduct cases for institutions, this training incorporates firsthand, real world experience and provides practical guidance on navigating the complex issues that arise during the hearing process.
This session will also specifically address the impact and challenges of trauma in investigating and adjudicating allegations of sexual misconduct. Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to put their training into action as they work together to navigate challenges that arise in a hearing and to adjudicate a complex sexual misconduct case, all while receiving valuable, in-the-moment feedback from higher education attorneys.

Cancellations and Refunds: Written requests for registration refunds must be received via email on or before August 27, 2019. All cancellations received on or before August 27, 2019, will receive a full refund less a $25 administrative fee. No refunds will be made after August 27, 2019 (name substitutions only). Refunds are not given for no-shows.
Substitutions: If you cannot attend the training, you may substitute another person from your institution. All requests for substitutions must be made via email to events@trainEDsolutions.com. Substitutions after August 27, 2019, will be processed at the training and all fees will still apply.
