Speakers: Wade Anderson, Jennifer Reedstrom Bishop, and John Green

Building projects continue to be a high priority for institutions of higher education and can raise a host of legal issues. Wade will discuss important real estate issues involved in construction projects on campus, including contracting issues and sustainability considerations. John will present a comparison of the two primary tax-exempt financing vehicles—bank placement and public offering of bonds—and discuss the advantages and disadvantages of each. Finally, Jennifer will discuss governance issues which may be triggered, including conflict of interest processes to be used when board members or significant donors are involved as vendors or contractors, and the use of donated assets including donor naming (and unnaming) issues.
