Annual Security Reports (ASRs) are due October 1, 2015.  Is your institution on track to certify compliance in its ASR with the newly effective requirements of the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act (VAWA) regulations?

VAWA and the final rule require institutions to revise their policy statements in their ASRs to provide more complete information to their students, better inform and protect victims, and clarify the process for collecting and reporting crime statistics in ASRs.  The rule also provides new requirements relating to the complaint process, addressing issues such as participation of attorneys, parties’ access to the information that will be used in the decision-making process, and required content for notices of determination.

Join us for a 90-minute training on how your institution will need to update its policies and practices to certify compliance with these changes by the October 1 deadline.

Issues impacted by the new regulations include:

  • Participation by attorneys in the complaint process
  • Mandatory sharing of information with the parties
  • Required content for determination notices
  • Prevention and awareness programs
  • Changes to Clery Act crime statistics
