UMKC Names Joel Voran to its Board of Trustees


The University of Missouri - Kansas City has announced that Lathrop Gage CEO Joel Voran has been named to the institution's Board of Trustees. Mr. Voran's four-year board term will begin with the 2009–2010 academic year.

“As a leading institution of higher learning here in Kansas City for many years, it is easy to understand why UMKC has been and will continue to be an important part of the fabric of this city,” said Mr. Voran. “I am honored by the opportunity to serve on this board, and I look forward to collaborating with my fellow Trustees.”

Mr. Voran has more than 30 years of experience in estate planning, tax law and general corporate matters. He specializes in wealth retention planning for successful closely held business owners and their families and high net worth corporate executives. He has been honored by Worth magazine as being among the top 100 trust and estates attorneys in the nation and is a member of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel.

An active member of the Civic Council of Kansas City and the Kansas City Area Development Council, Mr. Voran graduated with distinction from the University of Texas School of Law. He earned his B.S. with honors from the University of Kansas.
