Gray Plant Mooty’s Kathryn Bergstrom Appointed to Minnesota Supreme Court Civil Justice Reform Task Force

12/20/2010

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (December 20, 2010) — The Minneapolis-based law firm of Gray Plant Mooty is pleased to announce that shareholder Kathryn Bergstrom has been appointed to the Minnesota Supreme Court Civil Justice Reform Task Force, a panel charged with providing recommendations to make the state's civil case processing more cost effective and efficient.

The Civil Justice Reform Task Force will review and follow up on the findings of a report issued by the Civil Justice Forum, which was established in 2009 by then-Chief Justice Eric Magnuson. The forum examined civil case processing statutes, court rules, and practices to identify changes in the civil justice system that have the potential to increase cost-effectiveness and efficiency. The forum identified several initiatives, ranked them, and recommended a panel be created to more thoroughly study the possible impacts on litigants and civil case processing.

Bergstrom, cochair of Gray Plant Mooty’s Business & General Litigation practice group, has spent her entire career litigating on a wide variety of subject matters, including financial services, health and human services, real estate, construction, covenants not to compete, breach of contract, uniform commercial code, professional licensing, responding to state and federal government investigations, internal and compliance investigations, and white collar defense. Bergstrom represents clients in state and federal courts around the country, before state and federal agencies, before state licensing boards, in arbitrations, and in all types of alternative dispute resolution processes.

Bergstrom received her J.D., cum laude, from the University of Minnesota Law School.
