Gray Plant Mooty Hires Five New Attorneys
MINNEAPOLIS (November 13, 2019) — Gray Plant Mooty is pleased to announce the recent hiring of five new attorneys. Two are based in the firm’s Minneapolis office, two are based in the office in St. Cloud, Minn., and one is in the office in Washington, D.C.
Special Counsel Krista Durrwachter joins the firm’s Trust, Estate, and Charitable Planning Practice Group, where she advises individuals and businesses on trusts and estates, nonprofits, and taxation. She helps clients draft wills, trusts, and other estate-planning instruments, advises clients on tax minimization strategies, and guides families through the estate-administration process. She also assists clients with charitable gift planning. Krista has prior legal and business experience. She serves clients from the firm's office in St. Cloud, Minn. She is a graduate of William Mitchell College of Law.
Maria de Sam Lazaro joins the Litigation Practice Group in the Minneapolis office, where she represents clients in a variety of matters, helping them avoid litigation whenever possible. Maria completed an externship at a national bank chain where she gained experience in federal compliance, security deposit law, and advertising law. Maria is an alumna of Gray Plant Mooty’s Summer Associate Program and a recent graduate of the University of Minnesota Law School.
Associate Meaghan Hunt joins the Litigation Practice Group in the firm's office in St. Cloud, Minn., where she represents clients in a variety of matters, primarily focusing on general business and financial lending. Meaghan, a recent graduate of Mitchell Hamline School of Law, served as a law clerk with a Chicago-based law firm and completed a judicial internship with the Minnesota Court of Appeals. She also worked as a law clerk for Gray Plant Mooty’s Litigation Practice Group and is an alumna of Gray Plant Mooty’s Summer Associate Program.
Associate Katherine Morrison joins the Franchise and Distribution Practice Group, where she serves clients from the firm's office in Washington, D.C. A recent graduate of Georgetown University Law Center, Katherine served as a judicial intern to the Honorable John M. Tran of the Fairfax Circuit Court. During her internship, she conducted legal research, prepared memoranda, and drafted judicial opinions. She also gained legal experience as a Gray Plant Mooty Summer Associate in 2018.
Associate Abby Swanson Garney joins the Corporate and Business Practice Group in the firm's Minneapolis office, where she assists clients with M&A due diligence and advises entrepreneurs. She also conducts audit reports, risk assessments, and drafts legal memorandum. Abby is knowledgeable in the areas of “internet of things” (IoT), artificial intelligence, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). A recent graduate of the University of Minnesota Law School, she participated in the Gray Plant Mooty Summer Associate Program in 2017 and 2018.
