Governor Dayton Appoints Gray Plant Mooty’s Pierce McNally to Perpich Center for Arts Education Board

5/6/2011

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (May 6, 2011) — The Minneapolis-based law firm of Gray Plant Mooty is pleased to announce that Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton has appointed attorney Pierce A. McNally to the board of the Perpich Center for Arts Education, a state agency dedicated to promoting education in and through the arts.

McNally practices in the areas of business law and entrepreneurial services, and he has worked with start-up and early-stage companies in advisory and management relationships. His deep expertise in these areas is credited to his own personal experience as a business executive. McNally served as a board member and elected officer of his family company, Midwest Communications, Inc., the former owner of numerous broadcast properties (including WCCO-TV, WCCO-AM, and WLTE in the Twin Cities), until the company merged with CBS Corporation in 1992.

Outside of business and law, McNally is deeply committed to the arts. He has served in leadership capacities with several local arts organizations, including the Minnesota Opera, the Minnesota Orchestral Association, and the Minnesota Historical Society.

The Perpich Center for Arts Education serves students, teachers, artists, schools, and arts organizations throughout Minnesota. Its mission is to provide all Minnesota students the opportunity to develop and integrate their artistic and academic abilities to their highest potential. The Center offers grants, research, and professional development programs for arts educators. It also operates Arts High School, a tuition-free public high school offering a rigorous academic program, with intensive coursework focused in six art areas: dance, literary arts, media arts (photography/cinema), music, theater, and visual arts.
