Jennifer Hannah Receives 2020 Missouri Lawyers Media Women’s Justice Award for Litigation
March 6, 2020 – Missouri Lawyers Media announced its 2020 Women’s Justice Award winners, selecting Lathrop GPM Partner Jennifer M. Hannah of the firm’s Kansas City, Missouri, office as a Litigation Practitioner Award recipient for her esteemed courtroom reputation.
A litigator for more than 20 years, Hannah handles all phases of complex commercial litigation disputes, including substantial jury trial practice, class-action litigation and alternative dispute resolution throughout the United States. She also has extensive experience in disputes involving general business transactions, shareholder and fiduciary litigation, claims involving fraud and non-compete and trade secret litigation at both the federal and state level. Additionally, with a background in accounting, Jennifer regularly works with accounting firms as well as the accounting arms of established businesses on accounting liability and risk management issues. Hannah also leads the firm’s Accountant Liability and Risk Management team, previously served as the firm’s Litigation Division Chair, and previously served on the firm’s Executive Committee.
In a recent noteworthy matter, Hannah obtained summary judgment on behalf of a client under the Defend Trade Secrets Act, a case of first impression for the Federal District Court of Kansas. Additional recent successes for Hannah in the courtroom include the complete reversal of a jury verdict rendered against our client with direction from the Kansas Court of Appeals to the trial court to enter judgment in favor of our client, and award costs; and an order from the Missouri Court of Appeals affirming a trial court judgment in favor of our client after a five-day trial, as well as an award of our client’s attorney’s fees and costs at trial and on appeal.
Hannah’s additional recent honors include being named a 2020 Benchmark Litigation Star; The Best Lawyers in America® named her a 2019 Litigation – Commercial “Lawyer of the Year;” and the Kansas City Business Journal named Hannah among their “Women Who Mean Business” Class of 2015.
