The Legal Landscape of Disabilities Regulations in the U.S. and Canada and Its Effect on Franchising

This program will familiarize you with the requirements for complying with U.S. and Canadian laws requiring that franchise system employers and places of public accommodation make and operate their businesses in a manner that is accessible to the public and their employees alike. Particular emphasis will be paid to the public accommodation and employment issues that franchisors and franchisees face.

The speakers will comment on recent developments in the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Accessibility for Ontarians Disabilities Act (AODA), and related state laws, including recent cases brought against franchisors. The panel will also discuss the most common types of violations and how to avoid or fix them, as well as discuss drafting tips to minimize liability.
