Health Law Alert: Deadline Extended on Minnesota Department of Health Request for Information

10/14/2016

The Minnesota Department of Health (“MDH”) has extended the deadline to submit your responses for the Patient Impact and Costs Associated with the Consent Requirements Under the Minnesota Health Records Act (“MHRA”) Request for Information (“RFI”). Responses are now due Monday, October 24 by 7:00 p.m.

MDH by legislative mandate seeks public input on both patient impact and costs associated with the patient consent requirements under the MHRA. This extension gives responders an additional week to submit comments. Individuals, health care providers, payers, and related organizations are encouraged to respond. The findings will be summarized into a report to the legislature due in February 2017 and may be used for planning and policy development.

Gray Plant Mooty has been retained by MDH to provide guidance on federal and state privacy and security requirements, as part of the Privacy, Security and Consent Management for Electronic Health Information Exchange Grant.
