Owning a painting is not the same as owning the intellectual property rights associated with that artwork. In this opening session, intellectual property attorneys Bansari Amin and Amy Brozenic explore the often-misunderstood distinction between ownership of a physical work and the bundle of legal rights that may or may not accompany it. Viewers will learn which rights generally accompany ownership of artwork, such as the rights to display, sell, or loan a piece, and which do not, including copyright, reproduction rights, and moral rights under the Visual Artists Rights Act.
