CHICAGO, IL (July 21, 2025) — Lathrop GPM is pleased to welcome Catherine Goldhaber as a partner in the firm’s Chicago office and Tort, Insurance & Environmental Practice Group. Her arrival strengthens the firm’s growing momentum in Chicago and further bolsters its capabilities in toxic tort and environmental litigation.

Goldhaber has more than 25 years of experience as a litigator in both private practice and as an Assistant State’s Attorney in Cook County, IL. Her practice focuses on defending claims involving product liability, toxic substance exposure, and transportation-related injuries, and is national in scope, with Goldhaber serving as both trial and coordinating counsel in the defense of mass tort claims.

In addition to her toxic tort litigation practice, Goldhaber also advises clients on Medicare Secondary Payer (MSP) issues, with a focus on MSP compliance disputes that occur during discovery and in resolution. She holds leadership roles on the MSP Task Force for DRI, an organization of attorneys defending the rights of business and individuals in civil litigation and has worked directly with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services on policy issues.

Goldhaber opened her previous firm’s Chicago office in 2017 and served as the office’s Partner-in-Charge. She was also a member of the firm’s Executive and Compensation Committees.

Her addition marks the third recent attorney hire this year in Lathrop GPM’s Chicago office.

“Catherine is a tremendous addition to our practice,” said Mara Cohara, leader of the firm’s Tort, Insurance & Environmental Practice Group. “Her track record of impressive litigation successes, coupled with her unique focus on MSP issues, makes her an incredible fit for the team and our clients. With Catherine joining our Chicago office on the heels of recent additions like Brent Vincent, we’re significantly strengthening our TIE presence in the region and the depth of our talented bench.”

“I’m excited to join Lathrop GPM’s outstanding Tort, Insurance & Environmental Practice Group, and to work alongside talented colleagues across a wide range of practice areas,” said Goldhaber. “The firm’s national platform offers an ideal opportunity to broaden my practice and enhance the service I provide to clients.”

Goldhaber holds a B.A. from Michigan State University and a J.D. from Loyola University Chicago School of Law.
